The Digital Media Specialist supports the development of engaging visual content that advances Georgia Highlands College's brand, recruitment, student engagement, and institutional communications. Working closely with the Creative Media Manager and the Marketing & Communications team, this position assists with photography, videography, video editing, and digital content creation from concept to completion. The Digital Media Specialist produces high-quality visual assets for social media, the college website, digital marketing campaigns, events, and other institutional initiatives while ensuring consistency with the college's brand standards.
Responsibilities include understanding, supporting, and carrying out the college's mission, vision, and values and complying with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies. The Digital Media Specialist assists the Creative Media Manager with photography and videography for college events, academic programs, marketing campaigns, and institutional initiatives. They capture, edit, and produce high-quality videos, promotional pieces, interviews, testimonials, event recaps, and other digital media for internal and external audiences. They create engaging photo, video, and short-form content optimized for social media platforms and other digital communication channels. The Digital Media Specialist collaborates with the Marketing & Communications team to develop creative content that supports recruitment, enrollment, student engagement, and institutional branding. They produce graphic elements, motion graphics, and visual assets used across digital, video, web, and print communications. They edit and enhance photography and video using industry-standard software while maintaining consistent visual quality and brand standards. They organize, maintain, and archive digital photo and video assets for future institutional use. They assist with live event coverage, livestreams, and multimedia productions as needed. They stay current on emerging social media trends, digital storytelling techniques, and multimedia best practices to enhance audience engagement.
Required Qualifications include knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having a similar position for two years, and possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include knowledge of professional photography, videography, audio, lighting, and multimedia production techniques, knowledge of digital cameras, video equipment, audio recording equipment, and related production technology, proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, etc., knowledge of digital asset management and media organization best practices, knowledge of social media platforms, content creation strategies, and platform-specific best practices, skill in photography, videography, video editing, color correction, and basic audio editing, skill in creating graphics, motion graphics, and multimedia content for digital communications, skill in visual storytelling and producing compelling content for diverse audiences, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, skill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions, strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners, and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of college events and activities.
